TX. 1861. 23 February. The people of Texas went to the polls to vote on a referendum to secede from the Union. The vote was 46,153 for secession and 14,747 against.
TX. 1861. Grayson Co. Uncle James settles here after leaving Missouri.
TX. 1861. 19 October. Columbia, Brazoria Co. W. P. Henry, age 26, enlists for a period of 12 months -- 7th Field Battery. Appears on Company Muster Roll of Art'y Co. D, Bates' Reg't Texas Vols., for 19 October 1861 to 31 December 1861. Has a horse valued at $100. He is promoted 20 October 1861.
TX. 1862. W. P. Henry appears on the January & February muster roll for same organization.
TX. 1862. 6 March. Velasco. Roll says W. P. Henry still has his horse, & is now in Capt. W. G. Moseley's L. Art'y Co., Bates' Regiment Texas Volunteers. He also appears on the 28 February to 31 March muster roll.
TX. 1862. 1 April. Velasco. W. P. Henry re-inlists for the war, & bounty is paid. He is now a 2 Sgt. He appears on the 31 March to 30 April on Company Muster Roll for Co. B, Brown's Batt'n Texas Cav.
TX. 1862. August. W. P. Henry is "on detached service ... Oyster Creek." 1862. November & December. Says W. P. Henry is reported as absent & sick.
KY. 1862. 24 October. Francis M. Henry marries Ann R. Calhoon.
TX. 1863. W. P. Henry is reported as present on the muster rolls for January & February, March & April, and November & December. There is no further information in his file.

I can't thank you enough for this wonderful timeline - - so much information here! This will be so helpful to me in compiling my information on my OWEN-HENRY-KIRTLEY lines. The entire website is fantastic! I have enjoyed perusing the entire site. Thank you so much for sharing this with me. Martha
