Surname-specific boards* on this site include the following:

Click on any of the above surnames to go to those boards. Our ancestors by these names (except the Smiths) wound up in Texas at one time or another . . . some as early as the 1820s. The Smiths and their kith 'n kin were in Maine and Massachusetts.

What is an "ahnentafel?" Well, I can't begin to pronounce it, but I think I can define it. It is a German word which simply means "ancestral table." In this easy-to-read chart, the names of ancestors appear on a line by line basis with each ancestor given a separate number.

Here is the "ahnentafel" for my siblings and me, with the four of us being (interchangeably) individual [1], and the final name listed being individual [3968].

  • Our father (Forrest Lee) is [2], his father (Jake) is [4], Jake's father is [8], etc.
  • Our mother (Roberta) is [3], her father (Robert E.) is [6], his father (Edgar) is [12], etc.

To find the spouse of any male ancestor, just add one to his number.

  • Edgar Henry is [12]
  • his wife, Berta Mary Sharp, is [13]

To find the child of any male ancestor, divide his number in half.

  • Richard Pounder is [64]
  • his son, Lemuel Samuel Pounders, is [32]
