Edgar Henry

Edgar Henry, 78, died Sunday at his home here after an extended illness. Funeral services were held from the Phillips & Luckey chapel Monday at 4 p.m. with Rev. H. M. Roark and Rev. Ralph F. Powell, of the Baptist church, officiating. Burial was in Oak Lawn cemetery with the Masonic lodge in charge of graveside rites. Pallbearers were the following Masons: Bennie D. Williams, Henry Tyler, O. B. McNeil, Dewitt Kornegay, Bill Summers and A. A. McVoy.
Edgar Henry was born January 31, 1872, at Old Independence, and came to Rockdale with his parents when he was 5 years old. He had lived his entire life here. He was married January 2, 1895, to Miss Berta Mary Sharp and to the couple were born eight children, one passing away in infancy. Mr. Henry had been a member of the Baptist church since he was a boy of 17.
Surviving are his wife and the following seven children: Mrs. S. C. Christian, Rockdale; George Henry, Rockdale; Frank Henry, Norton; Milton Henry, Sinton; Robert Henry, Sinton; Oscar Henry, Rockdale; Mrs. Alton Peebles, Lexington; one brother, J. B. Henry, of Waco; and one sister, Mrs. J. D. Hamilton , of Rockdale.
The following out-of-town relatives were here for the funeral rites: Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Henry, of Waco; Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Reynolds, of Crockett; Mrs. Ida Halyard, Crockett; Emma Halyard, Crockett; Loretta Halyard, Crockett; Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Leaverton and son, Harold Stuart, Crockett; Mrs. Nell Driscoll and son, Bobby Earl, Texas City; Mrs. E. E. Fergeson, Houston; Harry W. Hamilton, Sinton; Mrs. and Mrs. Fred Caesar, and son Harry Douglas, Thorndale; Mrs. T. A. Newton, Palestine.[/size]
