Liberty County, Texas. On or about the 11th day of July in 1861, James Madison Hall (1819-1866) penned the following words in one of the journals he used for recording the events in his day-to-life in civil-war Texas:
Samuel Houston Sharp was the son of John M*. and Mahala Lee (Roberts) Sharp. His sister, Margaret, was married to the author of the above mentioned journal.
Mary Alexandrien Lamier was also known as Alex or Nellie. Her maiden name has been variously spelled as Lamaire or Lamane or LaMire or Lemarre of LeMire.
Nellie's mother was Elizabeth (b. in Maryland), and it is believed that her maiden name was Warring (or Waring).
*At this time nothing further is known of John Sharp except that he married Mahala on the 22nd of March in 1838 in San Augustine County.
