Miss Amanda Boyd --
Dear Aunt --
With great pleasure I seat myself this Sabbath evening to try to answer your kind letter which came to hand sometime ago although I have no news whatever to write that will interest you.
We are all well except Mat. He is having chills. Uncle Hartwell is improving slowly. He is able to sit up a little. He was worse last Thursday nite than he had been in two weeks.
Joe and Susan married 17th of Oct. and Alph and Nelia the 31st. They both had a nice little supper. Nelia had a chill yesterday morning. Vicy had one Friday. Aunt Julia was very sick Friday.
Della Sykes has been sick ever since Susan married. She is hardly able to be up any at all. Her legs is a perfect sight. They have been sore ever since the first year we came out here. The doctor gave her some medicine to put on them. She says it hurts them so bad she can hardly put it on. She has been having chills.
Also Joe, Susan and Charlie has been having chills. They are taking Ruckers Southern Tonic. It is bad enough to break up chills or anything else.
I had two chills the week before Joe was married and took some of the tonic. I believe I had rather have the chills than take it.
We had a protracted meeting in Lexington in Oct. I believe there was about twenty four joined. I will name some of them. May Valentine, Lizzie Evens, Lucy and Joe Griffith, Frank Parker, John Valentine, Lou Cooper, Bill West. I believe they are all that you know.
Margaret Nallie has a daughter. Everyone that sees it says it is the prettiest child they ever saw.
Well as it is getting dark and I see some company coming I will not have time to write any more. I will send you some pieces of my dresses.
You must not think hard of me when I tell you I am going to marry. You all must come. I will commence cooking in the morning. Mrs. Parker & Mrs. Gomilian and Cousin Rachel are coming to help cook. I expect to stay with Papa and do just as I have been doing.
Charley and Ella and Bell are going to school. They like to go very well. Well I must close. Write soon and all the news. Give my love to all, yourself included.
P.S. Tell Aunt Nancy I received her letter and will answer it as soon as I find some news to write. You all must come to my wedding as I should be so bold as to tell you to get here by the 7th of Nov.
