Davis Family Bible "Negroes Births" « Reply #1 on May 3, 2008, 9:01pm »
Quote:
The following list of Negroes Births is from a transcription of the marriages, births and deaths of loved ones which were recorded on the pages of a family Bible presumed to have belonged to the family of > Josephine Wingfield Henry nee Davis < (1842-1899).
This list was prepared from photocopies of the tattered and torn original pages. I have never seen the original Bible or any pages from it, and as of May 2008May 2009 December 2009, the whereabouts of that family Bible (or the pages from it) is still unknown to me. It is believed that the family heirloom was in the possession of Miss Laura Hamilton (1898-1987) of Rockdale, Milam County, Texas at the time these photocopies were made, probably by Georgia Faye Kaseberg nee Henry (1925-2001).
Josephine was born and raised in Morgan County, Georgia. By the time of the 1860 census, she is living in Brazoria County, Texas with her widowed father, > Milton Grant Davis, Sr. < and her brothers.
Josephine marries > William Paschal Henry < in March of 1864 in Brazoria County. Both are buried in the Murray Cemetery in Milam County, Texas.

The following list is not in date order, but rather is in the exact order that these names and dates were entered on the Bible page.
