Thursday, March 9, 1882 Vicy Sykes[/u] Letter to Aunt AmandaThe above letter was one of the typed letters I received from the Dixons in November of 1998. I then received a copy of a handwritten copy of the same letter from the Pendleys in February of 2000. The above version of the letter is typed "as is" from the Feb 2000 copy. [/size]

- After more than 15 years of robbing banks and hijacking railroad trains, Jesse James has been killed -- by his cousin!
- Belle Starr, a resident of Dallas, was recently tried and convicted on a charge of horse stealing
- the era of "the long drive" up the Chisholm Trail from Texas is fading, the victim of barbed wire, big business and new laws, and the cowboys -- most of whom are Civil War veterans, ex-slaves, Mexicans or Easterners in search of adventure -- are passing into legend.
